X-Lapsed Triple-Dip, Episode 12 - Giant-Size X-Men by Jonathan Hickman

The weekend kinda got away from me, and so - in lieu of an all-new episode, we're indulging in another compilation piece.  And, I mean, let's face it -- it's doubtful anybody's gonna bother listening even if it WAS new... so, whattayagonnado?
Today we're looking at the wildly disjointed... and rather unnecessary run of Giant-Size specials the Head of X was putting out during the Dawn of X era.  Storm's sick... like really, really sick... so sick that it's never mentioned in ANY other books she appears in!  Don't worry though, she gets better.
Plus: We've got not one, but TWO iterations of "Baby's First Grant Morrison Comic" in a callback to the "Silence!  Psychic Rescue in Progress" Nuff Said! issue of New X-Men and a dip into Fantomex's The World.
Also: Magneto makes a deal with Namor to procure a certain island that will be the site of a certain Gala.  Oh, you didn't know there was a Gala coming up?

X-Lapsed Triple-Dip, Episode 11 - New Mutants by Ed Brisson, Volume 1

That time we all bought the next issue of New Mutants... and weren't sure if we were reading things in the right order!  Instead of a swashbuckling adventure in the stars with the Shi'ar... we were dropped on the Bohusk farm Nebraska with Armor, Glob, and a drunken Boom-Boom!
That's not the only story we get here though!  We'll also head off to draft Cosmar to the Krakoan Cause, as well as dealing with the weird anti-mutant tabloid web-site DOX... which, yer humble host was somewhat stupidly x-cited for!

X-Lapsed Triple-Dip, Episode 10 - X-Force by Benjamin Percy, Volume 2

X-Force continues to be the unsung flagship book of the Dawn of X era, with Benjamin Percy's sophomore collection!  The stories being told might not be to everybody's liking, however, I don't think anybody can argue that stuff actually HAPPENS in this book... which immediately puts it head and shoulders over most of the X-Offerings in late 2019/early 2020!
This time out, we get into some deep (and potentially problematic) discussion on the topic of suicide in the age of resurrection!  Are we more than a collection of our experiences... and, if not -- is it okay to jettison some of those more troublesome experiences to make your next "go round" more productive?
Also - This IS a Ben Percy book, so we've got plenty of Russians and INFO PAGE abuse!

The Essential X-Lapsed, Episode 60 - Not Brand Echh #4

There's something to be said about a book that lives up to its tagline... unfortunately THIS book's tagline happens to be: "Who Says A Comic Book Has to be Good??"
So yeah - today we're looking at something altogether different... a "Just the X, ma'am" dive into Marvel's attempt at Silver Age Satire... Not Brand Echh!
I know humor is relative... and I also know that, perhaps yer humble host can be a bit too serious at times... but, hoo boy, we're in for quite the ride with this one!  Thankfully this story is full of weird pop-culture references, which kept me researching and entertained... too bad I had to keep coming back to talk about the story itself!  The Doom Patrol show up... so, at least there's that!
Plus: As I own this physical comic, I'm including our usual Essential back-matter... we've got a Letters Page and smattering of weird ads to talk about!

The Essential X-Lapsed, Episode 59 - Avengers#53

Not even a two-hour bout of oral surgery could stop your humble host from wrapping up our Magneto arc on time!  Which is to say... I'm a bit more loopy than usual today, gang!
But what a day it is... we're finally getting Round Two of AvX... and a Silver Age Dagwood Sandwich of a story that will likely leave us all scratching our heads!  It's hero vs. hero... villain vs. villain... tweener vs. tweener -- it's a wild ride all the way though!  Either that, or these painkillers I'm taking are some really wicked stuff!

The Essential X-Lapsed, Episode 57 - X-Men #44

We're finally back for a stint in the Silver-Age... where one of our teen-age heroes meets a fella outta Marvel's Golden Age!  It's the coming (and going) of Red Raven!  Hold on to yer harnesses gang, this one's gonna be a barn-burner!  We've got us a new writer to boot!
Plus - The Origins of the X-Men backup strip focuses on Kid Kool as he gets roughed up by some Strong Island street toughs, and thrown in the clink!

X-Lapsed, Episode 325 - Black Panther #3

In our "milestone" three hundred twenty-fifth episode, we're stepping off the beaten X-Path to discuss a milestone issue of Black Panther!  It's got the Legacy Voodoo Numbering of 200... and in it, our titular hero heads Marsarakko Way to chat up his old... former... current... future flame, and current "Regent Stuff Doer" of the Sol System, Storm!
We... don't have much to talk about.
But, this IS a "season finale" episode, so we WILL be chatting up the... very strange X-Sales Charts for November, 2021.  We're not getting Penguin-Random House numbers, so all's we gots is estimates (more estimate-y than ever!).  Plus, an over-stuffed and wonderful Mailbag, as well as "Chris complains about Variant Cover glut"... err, I mean, "This Week in X"!
