It's the first Anniversary of X-Lapsed... and somehow Wolverine has weaseled his way into yet another X-Lapsed Milestone!
Today, friends... the comic is basically secondary, thankfully it's just Wolverine doing Wolverine things in Madripoor anyway, so, it's not like there's much to say anyway!
The real "meat" of this episode is the discussion of the genesis of X-Lapsed, and a celebration of the community we've built together over the past year.

Chris and Reggie's TOTAL PACKAGE - The History of the Direct Market

Today I am sharing a compilation of the last deep-dive Reggie and I did together, wherein we focused on another "tent-pole" series of Weird Comics History.  From the very start, we knew this was a topic we really wanted to sink our teeth into... and we were very fortunate to get that opportunity!
We cover it all... from newsies shillin' papers, to the origins of the "organized" comics fandom, and how that fandom kicked off an aftermarket for comics, thereby creating the "back issue".  We'll meet Phil Seuling, for better or worse, the "Father" of the Direct Market.
From there, we'll get into the nitty gritty of what it meant for comics to be "direct marketed" in comparison to "newsstanded"... how this affected retailers... and how, ultimately we wound up with a monopoly over the entire thing (well, at the time of these recordings, anyway...).
It's a couple hours of fun chatter, from comics, to speculation, to aftermarkets, to seemingly phasing comics out altogether!  I promise, it's not as glum as it sounds!  Give'r a listen!

The Collected X-Lapsed, Episode 17 - Dawn of X, Volume 14

Today's is a pretty interesting compilation... as, if you're a listener of the more recent episodes of X-Lapsed, you'll be familiar with my gushing over X-Factor... and lamenting its cancellation.  Well, wouldja believe that there was a point in time where I was actually HOPING it would be canned with the quickness?  It was with the second issue of the volume where I was officially "done" with this book.  Boy, how things change!
Also, despite the fact that we're wrapping up the Empyre-sploitation miniseries here, we're also including the only Empyre chapter worth a damn in X-Men #11!  You WILL believe a man can drop a satellite on a veg-alien!
All that, and my usual nonsense... all here waitin' for ya!
