Cosmic Treadmill Presents... Comix Tawk, Episode 6: The Four Kinds of Fans
Sunday Mar 17, 2019
Sunday Mar 17, 2019
Hello folks!
Since we're still under the weather at Cosmic Treadmill HQ, we've decided to lift the paywall over at patreon.com/chrisandreggie and share with the public a fairly recent episode of Comix Tawk! Comix Tawk is a twice-monthly exclusive program wherein Chris (@acecomics) and Reggie (@reggiereggie) have an off-the-cuff conversation about the industry we hold so dear. Sometimes they get a little too passionate... this might be one of those times.
This one based around the "Four Kinds of Fans," as stated by wrestling promoter and personality Jim Cornette. But don't worry, this certainly isn't a wrestling podcast: Chris and Reggie relate these four fandoms to comic books, and opine on how appealing to one group over others is, well, foolhardy!
Enjoy the discussion, and let us know what you think!

Cosmic Treadmill Special: Sandman Universe "Gatherum", Episode 1
Thursday Mar 14, 2019
Thursday Mar 14, 2019
Hello everyone, and welcome to a brand-new offering from the Chris and Reggie Channel. In the spirit of our old Young Animal Gatherum (all 30 hours of which are available in the archives), we have decided to begin compiling our discussions of The Sandman Universe titles, which appear as segments on the Weird Science DC Comics Podcast.
Listen along as a long-time Sandman fan (@reggiereggie) takes a neophyte (@acecomics) under his wing, and together they try and make sense of this sorta-new/sorta-not Sandman Universe!

Cosmic Treadmill, Episode 132 - Jack Chick's "Dark Dungeons"
Sunday Mar 10, 2019
Sunday Mar 10, 2019
Hello, Panicking Pals! This week we were unable to release an all-new episode, and so we decided to share a sampling from the Cosmic Treadmill, After Dark Collection (exclusive to Chris and Reggie Patrons). During this episode, we look at Evangelist Jack Chick and his comic book tracts, and the Satanic Panic of the 1980s and 1990s, and how it fueled Jack's ministry.
We also read the tract "Dark Dungeons" in its entirety... it does deal with very adult themes--so put the kids to bed before listening. Thanks to everyone for your support, and please let us know if there are any questions or suggestions!

Chris is on Infinite Earths, Episode 12: Mother Panic #1 (2017)
Wednesday Mar 06, 2019
Wednesday Mar 06, 2019
No, gentle listener, this isn't the return of the Young Animal Gatherum...
This time out, I give a peek behind the curtain and tells the story about how a review he did on a site other than his own, managed to affect change on Chris is on Infinite Earths!
What happened when Chris received his first bit of clapback? Well, lemme tell ya, It's a story of angry comments, curse words, appeals to motive, and over-reaction... with just a little bit of ranting about the current sensationalized comics reviewing "culture". It's somehow even less provocative than it sounds!
PLUS: The introduction of a potential new segment... COMICS HOT TAKE, wherein I will attempt to analyze the initial reactions of comic fans when changes are made to the hobby we hold so dear. For this "pilot" installment, in tying in with my #ActionComicsDaily project, I will be taking a look at the Letter Page from Action Comics Weekly #605 (1988), which features the first bit of feedback DC Comics received on the weekly anthology format... from prolific letterhacks who received black and white preview photostats of the issue!

Cosmic Treadmill, Episode 131 - Dinosaurs Attack! #1 (2013)
Sunday Mar 03, 2019
Sunday Mar 03, 2019
Say hello to yesteryear, comic book enthusiasts! In this episode, time-travelers Chris (@AceComics) and Reggie (@reggiereggie) take a trip to the Mesozoic Age...or was that the Devonian? They check in on some ancestors that never quite existed when they read Dinosaurs Attack! by Gary Gerani, Herb Trimpe, and Earl Norem, published by IDW in 2013! After the necessary biographical information, our saurian scientists dive into the 1988 Topps trading card set that birthed this comic book series, and look at why it began at one publisher almost thirty years ago, but concluded at IDW. After a reading of the issue and a brief intermission, these temporal physicists tell the rest of this bizarre and probably overly-complex story, and wrap it up with a history of trading cards--the gory edition. It's an episode steeped in viscera and pseudo-science, you don't want to miss it!
Please visit BobHeffner.com for more about Dinosaurs Attack! and other trading card sets

Reggie's Comics Stories ep. 11 - Arnold Drake's Memo
Wednesday Feb 27, 2019
Wednesday Feb 27, 2019
Hello, fans of the weird! In this episode, Reggie talks about one of his favorite creators, Arnold Drake, and concentrates on a memo he wrote in 1966 to DC Comics' executives about changing their content to be more like Marvel. It's very strangely worded, so it requires a little deconstruction! Enjoy this look at a lesser-known piece of comics history, and let us know what you think!

Cosmic Treadmill, Episode 130 - The Brotherhood #1 (2001)
Sunday Feb 24, 2019
Sunday Feb 24, 2019
Greetings, comrades! In this episode, mutant-hunters Chris (@AceComics) and Reggie (@reggiereggie) look at a time that Marvel's X-Men line of titles was in flux...and that resulted in The Brotherhood #1, published in 2001, by Writer "X" and Esad Ribic! After a look at the editorial landscape at Marvel at the time, they go through every page of this book, lending their commentary and vocal rudeness along the way. Then they discuss the mysterious Writer "X", who it could have been...and who it actually is! Do not resist this episode, listen in!

Chris is on Infinite Earths, Episode 11: Batman #416 (1988)
Wednesday Feb 20, 2019
Wednesday Feb 20, 2019
Greetings teen-aged sidekicks!
This time out, Chris (@acecomics) is joined by his pal Jody Yerdon (@regalfan) to discuss one of the, in their opinion, greatest (and most underrated) Batman stories ever put to print!
Batman #416 sees the post-Crisis meeting of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd... and is chock full of some amazing Bat-Family Drama! Ever late-to-the-party, Chris ranked this as the best comic book he'd read in 2016... and it is still his very favorite Batman story, despite (or possibly because) the Caped Crusader himself only appearing on a handful of pages!
Listen to the fellas gush over this one for about an hour!
